Foreign visitors who enter the State of Quintana Roo through the southern border of the entity shall be exempt from payment.

There are other sites purporting to be authorized, and they charge varying amounts as high as $56 USD. You should avoid using these sites as they are NOT AUTHORIZED to collect Visitax, and your QR code may not be valid or received by you after you have paid.

Mexican Visitor Tax

The Visitax fee is set by law at 2.5 U.M.A., equivalent to 271 Mexican pesos. Travelkore has been instructed to collect this fee at a set rate of 17.00 USD or 22.50 CDN dollars. For consumers in the US or Canada, Travelkore offers the ability to pay in your local currency allowing you to avoid any fees including foreign exchange charges (up to 3%) that may be applied by your credit card company.

The Measurement and Update Unit (UMA) is the economic reference in pesos to determine the amount of the payment of the obligations and assumptions provided for in the federal laws, of the federal entities, as well as in the legal provisions that emanate from all the above.

If the QR code is not delivered, all charges will be refunded.

There are no refunds under any circumstances once the QR code has been delivered to you.

There is no age exemption, all foreign visitors need to pay the tax. The only people who are exempt from Visitax are Mexican Citizens, individuals with the appropriate permanent/temporary residency status (allowed to stay over 180 days) and those entering from the southern border.

You must pay the tax BEFORE leaving the state. To avoid delays at the airport, we recommend paying in advance. With Travelkore, you can pay up to a year in advance of your travel dates.

You must present your QR code when asked.

The officer will scan the smaller QR code, accessing a government-only dashboard to display your VISITAX records.

If you do not have a QR code, you will need to purchase one. After doing so, the officer will scan the smaller QR code to check your past payments.
