Embrace It is a mandatory tourist tax established under Baja California Sur state law. All foreign visitors staying in the state for more than 24 hours are legally required to pay this tax as a condition of their visit, regardless of how travel or accommodation is booked.
Embrace IT must be paid separately and directly by the traveler through an authorized collection mechanism. Payment is independent of airfare purchase, package booking, or lodging arrangements and is not embedded in any transportation or accommodation transaction.

The tax has been implemented by the Government of the State of Baja California Sur and is collected pursuant to Article 129 Bis of the State Finance Law.
By law, international tourists are required to fill out the form below prior to leaving the state and will instantaneously receive Embrace IT QR codes via e-mail.

What is Embrace It Tax?
Embrace IT is a tax charged by the State of Baja California Sur to all international travelers who stay in the state for more than 24 hours. Visitors are subject to a fee of $488 MXN and is indicated in the following law:
Article 129 Bis.- Foreign tourists entering the state shall pay the fee referred to in this article for the use and enjoyment of the works carried out by the state for infrastructure on public property and for the provision of services in the exercise of its public functions, aimed at preventing, mitigating, or compensating for alterations or damage to the same.
Please note that Embrace IT is different from taxes added to airline tickets or hotel stays and must be paid separately through the authorized online platform.
What is the usage fee used for?
These resources will be allocated to the Trust for the Administration of State Infrastructure. These funds support public safety, crime victims, health services, employment support, sports, agricultural and fishing development, tourism and social infrastructure, housing, education, and culture in the state.
Who must make the Embrace It payment?
All international travelers, over 12 years of age, who visit the state of Baja California Sur for more than 24 hours - whether it is for business, vacation, study or medical care - are required to make the corresponding payment to Embrace IT.
Who is exempt:
- Children 12 and under
- Those with Mexican residency status (including temporary or permanent visas)
How much is the Embrace It Tax?
$488 MXN per visitor.
How do I pay Embrace It?
Embrace IT can be paid online through the authorized websites:
1. https://embraceit.bcs.gob.mx/
2. Any TTMX-approved Travelkore Payment Link.
Payment can be made securely by credit card (AMEX, Mastercard, VISA) or Paypal.
Please note that the fee is not included in any airline ticket or hotel reservation and must be paid separately.
Will I receive a receipt after I pay?
You will receive receipts with a QR code for each passenger by email, sent immediately after completing payment.
The form can be completed in minutes and accepts groups of up to 10 travelers per transaction (passport details required).
When do I have to pay the tax?
Payment must be made before leaving the state of Baja California Sur.
In order to avoid any inconveniences at the airport or in your departure itinerary, it is recommended that payment be made in advance.
Who should I show my QR code to?
Travelers may be randomly selected to present proof of payment.
It is important to keep a digital or hard copy of the QR code, and be ready to present it if requested.
Is the service refundable?
If the QR is not delivered all charges will be refunded.
There are no refunds under any circumstances once the QR code has been delivered to you.
What credit cards do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, and Amex.
When will I receive my QR code?
The QR code is generated immediately after your payment is processed. You will receive an email containing your QR code.
What is Travelkore?
Travelkore is the official Payment system for Embrace IT. Travelkore manages all aspects of Embrace IT including payment, QR code issuance and customer service.
Does Travelkore store your credit card information?
No. Travelkore does not store your credit card details. For security reasons, all card information is entered manually at checkout, reducing the risk of data breaches and unauthorized use.
Is this tax included in my airline ticket?
No. Embrace It is a state-level tourism tax mandated by the State of Baja California Sur and applies to foreign visitors entering the state. It is not included in airfare or hotel charges and must be paid separately.
What may be included in airfare:
DNR (Derecho de No Residente): Federal tourist fee collected by airlines.
TUA (Airport Usage Fee): Airport facility fee, not related to Embrace It.
Hotels may charge separate environmental fees.
Embrace It must be paid independently.
I am already travelling from another part of Mexico, do I still need to pay this tax?
Yes, Embrace It is specific to Baja California Sur and is still required. It is separate from TUA or DNR charges.
