Baja California Sur Updates the Embrace It Program for International Visitors
Baja California Sur has announced an update to its Embrace It tourism contribution program, which applies to international visitors traveling to the state. Beginning January 1, 2026, the required contribution will increase from 470 to 488 Mexican pesos per person.
The Embrace It program was created to support the long-term sustainability of Baja California Sur as a world-class travel destination. Funds collected through the program are reinvested into environmental conservation, tourism infrastructure improvements, and social and cultural initiatives that benefit local communities across the state.
What Travelers Need to Know
The updated contribution applies to international visitors arriving in Baja California Sur, including popular destinations such as Los Cabos, Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo, La Paz, and Loreto. Travelers are encouraged to complete their payment online prior to arrival.
Once payment is completed, visitors receive an electronic proof of payment with a QR code, which may be requested during travel or upon arrival. Paying in advance helps ensure a smoother travel experience and avoids delays.
