A Tourism Tax for a more sustainable Baja California Sur (BCS).

The tax is established in Article 129 bis of the Finance Law of the State of BCS. In accordance with State Laws:

All international visitors are required to pay $470 Mexican pesos (approx. $25 USD depending on the exchange rate) to support local development, sustainability projects, and other initiatives in the destination. Payments can only be made online and must be paid before leaving the state.

  • Embrace IT is a tax charged by the State of Baja California Sur to all international travelers who stay in the state for more than 24 hours. Visitors are subject to a fee of $470 MXN (approx. $25 USD depending on the exchange rate) and is indicated in the following law:

    Article 129 Bis.- Foreign tourists entering the state shall pay the fee referred to in this article for the use and enjoyment of the works carried out by the state for infrastructure on public property and for the provision of services in the exercise of its public functions, aimed at preventing, mitigating, or compensating for alterations or damage to the same.

    Please note that Embrace IT is different from the TUA (airport usage tax) that is added to airline tickets and must be paid separately.

  • These resources will be allocated to the Trust for the Administration of State Infrastructure. These funds support public safety, crime victims, health services, employment support, sports, agricultural and fishing development, tourism and social infrastructure, housing, education, and culture in the state.

  • All international travelers visiting the state of Baja California Sur for more than 24 hours, including for business, leisure, education, or medical purposes.

    Who is exempt:

    - People with residence status in Mexico (including temporary or permanent visas)

  • $470 MXN or approximately $25 USD (depending on the exchange rate), per visitor.

  • Embrace IT can be paid online through the authorized websites.

    Payment can be made securely by credit card (AMEX, Mastercard, VISA) or Paypal.

    Please note that the fee is not included in any airline ticket or hotel reservation and must be paid separately.

  • You must pay the tax BEFORE leaving the state. To avoid delays at the airport, we recommend paying in advance.

  • You will receive receipts with a QR code for each passenger by email, sent immediately after completing payment.

    The form can be completed in minutes and accepts groups of up to 10 travelers per transaction (passport details required).

  • You can easily retrieve your QR code by logging into your Carekore account. The code will remain in your account until you remove it or close your account.

  • Travelers may be randomly selected to present proof of payment. Keep a copy of your QR codes to show when requested.

  • If the QR code is not delivered, all charges will be refunded.

    There are no refunds under any circumstances once the QR code has been delivered to you.

  • We accept Visa, Mastercard, and Amex.

  • The QR code is generated immediately after your payment is processed. You will receive an email containing your QR code and you may also log into your free Carekore account to view or download your QR code.

  • Travelkore is the official Visitax Payment system for Embrace IT. Travelkore manages all aspects of Embrace IT including payment, QR code issuance and customer service.

  • Travelkore does not store this data as it still may be vulnerable to a data breach. Even with security measures in place, storing credit card information online will puts you at increased risk of card information being stolen and criminals using it for fraudulent purchases. Manually entering your card information when you make a purchase, as is the case here, significantly reduces the chance of it being compromised.
